A flat roller presses everything in a line; a ball goes after one spot. The TriggerPoint Universal Double Massage Ball
is both halves of that idea in one piece: two textured spheres joined in a peanut shape, 8 by 5 in (20 × 13 cm), in EVA
foam. The maker designs it to sit with one half on each side of the spine, so the muscles along the upper back get
pressure while the spine itself rests in the gap, and the same shape works under one glute or a hamstring.
It is small – under a pound, the size of a large water bottle lying down – so it lives on the top tier of a cart or in
a gym bag, and it is water-resistant. The listing is unclear on firmness (“firm or extra firm”), and the texture is a
lot on a sore muscle the first time.
Tip: On the upper back, lie on it with knees bent and let the spine sit in the middle groove; never let either ball rest on the spine itself, and keep it off the neck and the lower back.
