Active Aqua
Active Aqua AAPW550 Submersible Water Pump, 550 GPH, 33W, 6 Ft Cord
feeding a hydroponic-style chiller, circulating a tub that has no hose ports, pumping a tub out into a utility sink
The pump that pushes tank water up to the chiller and lets it fall back cold.
A chiller that sits beside the tank needs something to send water to it. The AAPW800 is a gray-and-black box pump, about 9 in (22 cm) long, that sits on the floor of the tank on suction-cup feet and pushes up to 800 GPH (3,028 L/h) through a barbed outlet on top. A dial on the front turns the flow down, and the drive is magnetic with a ceramic shaft.
It is the biggest of the three pumps the smaller Active Aqua chiller’s listing names; the 0.5 HP chiller’s listing names none, so the manual is where to confirm the pairing. The listing says nothing about use with someone in the water. Treat it as equipment that runs between plunges and is unplugged before you get in.
Tip: Set the pump at the far end of the tank from where the chilled water comes back, so the loop stirs the whole tank instead of chilling one corner.
