A hot tub filter is a pleated cartridge, and most of what it catches sits deep in the folds. A plain hose nozzle mostly hits the outer edges. Tip: Switch the tub off before you lift the cartridge out, and rinse it on the lawn, not on the deck next to the tub – what comes out of the pleats should not walk back in on wet feet.
